I've contacted a few miners about putting your nephew to work this
summer. So far, no takers. Their crews are set for the season. Most of
the guys are already in camp, working on equipment, freighting fuel in
and stripping overburden.
There aren't any phones in the 40mile, so it's hard to get ahold of
folks. They get mail up there twice a week, when the mail plane (a 206
Cessna) can fly. I'm waiting to hear back from one guy -- will let you
know.
Can your nephew drive himself up here or would he have to fly? Figure
airfare from where he lives to Fairbanks, then a 40 Mile Air flight to
Tok or Chicken. Tok is 90 miles or so from Chicken. That where folks go
to use the telephone, use the laundromat, take showers, buy groceries,
etc.
